U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg answered questions and talked about her career and pop culture icon status in an auditorium at the University of Chicago packed with about 400 students and faculty.
The 86-year-old justice, who is battling pancreatic cancer, spoke at length without notes during the discussion-style event. She told the audience that becoming the Notorious RBG has its advantages, including getting better service when she shops.
When she first took the bench in 1993, long before she became Notorious RBG, people were so unaccustomed to hearing a female justice that they often confused her with former Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, the first woman to serve on the Supreme Court.
The longtime justice spoke with Katherine Baicker, dean of the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy.
