At the Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR) awards dinner in 2001, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg spoke openly for the first time about her diagnosis and treatment for colorectal cancer. “It is the first time I have talked in public about something so personal,” she said. Read her remarks:

Almost 20 years later, on Sept. 18, 2020, Ginsburg passed away due to complications from metastatic pancreatic cancer. Ginsburg will be remembered as a fierce advocate for women and gender equality.
