Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has stunned Democrats by not only smacking down their latest pipe dream, she’s also been oddly siding with President Donald Trump on key battles. While speaking at the University of Chicago, the 86-year-old liberal justice smacked down an idea from socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and others to abolish the Electoral College. RBG said Americans should focus on change that is realistic rather than going after something as radical as abolishing the system used for hundreds of years to decide the winner of presidential elections in the United States. “It’s largely a dream because our Constitution is hard to amend,” Ginsburg said. “I know that from experience.” Trump, Republicans, and most Americans do not support abolishing the Electoral College, because there’s no reason to upend democracy because Democrats are still mad they lost the 2016 election. But more importantly, Ginsburg is arguably the most liberal justice on the Supreme Court. The fact that she is against the Democrats latest radical idea of abolishing the Electoral College is a big deal — and it likely won’t sit well with Democrats. The Trump application was submitted to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg because she is assigned to the 2nd Circuit. While all of this has been going on, Ginsburg also made headlines last month after she fell ill again and was hospitalized. After being treated for a possible infection, the oldest serving justice returned to the court after being hospitalized for at least the third time this year. Roughly two weeks ago, Ginsburg missed oral arguments before the Court after she reportedly come down with another illness, this time it was a “stomach bug.” While most certainly wish Ginsburg a speedy recovery, there are very serious questions lingering around her health and whether she’s still capable of serving on the nation’s highest court. Las month, Ginsburg completed three weeks of radiation therapy at a New York City hospital to treat a malignant tumor on her pancreas. Obviously keeping the most liberal justice on the court is more important to Democrats than her health and well being. But beyond that, there are serious issues questions about how much longer she can continue to serve on the Supreme Court. In December of 2018, the 85-year-old Justice had surgery to remove two cancerous growths from her left lung, forcing her to miss almost a month of oral arguments on the Supreme Court. In 2009, she had surgery for pancreatic cancer and missed time fro
